Executive Director, Anita Cunningham, is pleased to introduce her longtime friend and associate Dr. Ruby Bell who has been serving as a senior leader in NCCSC’s Meeting Monitor Program as part of our Cleaner and Greener Communities Initiatives.
A core tenet of our Cleaner and Greener Communities Initiative our Meeting Monitor Program (MMP) is a free educational opportunity in environmental terminology and training in civic advocacy to support residents and their vision in pursuit of a better environmental future.
Dr. Bell attends local civic meetings and observes as industries seek operating permit approval from local officials before state permits are issued, as required by law. Because of her efforts, NCCSC is able to alert local environmental and community groups of any potential harmful operations seeking approval that could negatively impact the public health of the community and afford time to engage residents in mounting an opposition campaign if necessary.
