The Watauga County Democratic Women’s Club held their January luncheon to Puerto Nuevo Mexican and Seafood Restaurant, 187 Watauga Village Drive (the old Golden Corral), on Wednesday, January 14, convening at 11:30 a.m.
Ayers was one of the founders of Appalachian Voices and is a retired anthropology professor at Appalachian State University. He has also been an advocate for protecting the arctic, leading numerous study trips there. His book Arctic Gardens: Voices from an Abundant Land, was published in 2010.
The Democratic Women’s monthly luncheons are open to the public and everyone is invited.
